Each board pretty much makes it clear from its name and description what is acceptable in there or not. Be sure you have the appropriate board before posting. If there is no board dedicated to the topic you wish to discuss, use /main/.
You cannot post illegal material, doxx, harass users, or post malicious links.
If you can't do it in the United States or Germany, you can't do it here.
Do NOT post NSFW or any "questionable" material in any board that is visible from the board list; if you would be uncomfortable viewing it at work, do not post it where it can be seen in the board list. See below.
Boards exist that you cannot view from the main site in which certain rules are adjusted to allow for posting that is not allowed elsewhere. The content of these boards will never be aggregated onto the front page. This visibility does not change that you cannot post illegal material, doxx, harass users, or post malicious links. Remember, these boards are not private places. Everyone can easily find them the same way you did.
Try to use a nice thread title and include a good image for your OP, even if the content of the thread is text heavy. This helps people find your thread and makes the site more user friendly. Links to content on third party sites is okay but these should not be the meat of a new thread.
Only one person may use a site account. Account sharing is a bannable offense, so please keep your password secure.
