i agree ( this is shai btw ) this is why i made the pink one XD if u want tho u can edit these to make the text more readable !
Undelete your thread on 32bit cafe?

it would be kinda interesting to think about what the mascot would even be, although idk if something cute is what div would realistically go for if you re familiar with him.

i think having some kind of mascot or specific logo would help a lot!!! similar to how the clover is associated with 4chan. i wonder what the divchan motif could be
1. The rule about, "Don't post it here if it goes somewhere else," was taken out, because I think it made people hesitant to post there. I also changed the board heading to reflect that its safe to post whatever you want there.
2. It's not stickied to the top of the start page anymore. I figured it helps if latest posts are always jumping to the top no matter where they are coming from.
Most likely there is going to be a /latest/ soon, which will aggregate all the posts from every board the user is following into one board.
What do you think?

i kind of liked the idea of a /latest/ but ig it's a bit too soon for something like that considering there are 8-9 boards as of now

you can technically use this which is the same concept: https://board.divsel.com/posts/
I guess its not as nice to browse as it would be if it looked like the other views.
The log approach was the fastest way for me to get the feature out but I could consider improving it one day.
the problem with mixing all the boards together is it kinda enables posters to ignore the cultural context of different boards, which I don't think is great.
the biggest improvement to the site since this post has been fewer boards so updates are less scattered than they were back then.
It came to my attention that it was possible to register accounts with names that are difficult to parse and its ambiguous what the message is... if its an Anon, if its an announcement, if its a logged in user.
This forced me to do stricter validation on names. From now on...
Name can only contain letters (uppercase and lowercase) and numbers.
Anyone who doesn't meet this criteria had their name changed. If you don't like what I changed your name to, let me know here and I'll change it to something else.
Sorry about this.
I'm thinking about opening new boards but I want to ask what boards people would actually like to see.
There's a lot of things other people might like that I have no interest in and would never think of... like maybe there could be a fashion board or idk...
What ideas do you have?
one thing u guys might not realize is main was originally a "dont post here unless there isn't a better place" board. and basically no one ever posted in main, that is why it was turned into general bullshit, to get people feeling safe to post there.
>/main/ - What do I call this board?
What about /misc/ for miscellaneous? It's not "Random" so you're not inheriting the reputation of 4chan /b/.

i feel like having /trash/ fixes this but you raise a fair point, however i'm on the side of 'keep main for qualityposting' lol, a small haven from irony and shitposts if you will
>>0x00000e
> kinda interesting dynamic here. Both boards reinforce that /main/ is intended to be a quality posting board, and it also gives us a place to put things that are not good enough for /main/.

this is perfect imo, honestly we're probably worrying too much considering the current size of the board

> I browse the web at night, and I generally use a widescreen monitor. So a dark theme would be nice.
Just pointing out, there is an issue open where I am accepting alternative themes.
https://github.com/divSelector/divchan/issues/18
If someone finished one I would push out a theme switcher.
It's possible that I will eventually get around to doing one myself but no ETA on that. I do still stand by that if someone does finish an alternate theme, I will make the theme switcher happen as a priority.
I'm pretty open minded about what I would accept as long as the alternate theme is "finished." By that I mean you can't take out functionality without replacing it. For instance, you can't take out the Material icons unless you're going to replace them. You can't take out the media query code that makes it work on mobile unless you're going to replace it.
The easiest thing is probably to just leave all that stuff and instead focus on recolors and other touch ups.
I'm posting this thread without a thumbnail as a reminder: You will be banned if you post NSFW in this thread!
You can discuss NSFW topics, but you cannot post graphic images here.

...anyway...
I keep wondering when I'm going to open the doors to NSFW boards.
Here's the reason why I'm leaning towards thinking we should have some: Erotic content has always powered the Internet. If I want my site to do well and get more users, it's difficult to ignore the people that NSFW boards could bring. At the same time, people are into a very large range of things and not into other things, and the only way it works is if there is a lot of boards with every option there is.
For example look at the NSFW boards on 4chan. They have very intricate rules and detailed descriptions of what is acceptable in every genre of xxx that is out there. And like.... I am just not that open with my own sexuality personally to be expressive about all these subjects. So I have no idea where to start with adding that.
Like specifically what NSFW board should there be? I have no idea.
I'm thinking that I need a director of NSFW material for the site or something... someone that I can give moderator powers to and let them decide what boards would be beneficial. I would obviously oversee it and make sure only decisions were being made but...
I think its gonna be a situation where there wont be NSFW boards until there is someone, or some group of people, who want to manage it. And keep in mind, I'm not going to give this role out lightly.
I'm just wondering, how should I go about this?
My actual thought is I won't notice one way or the other because I'm not super interested in xxx content. But also you should make the welcome page to this entire place be close up video of a woman giving birth to let people know we're cool.

based and div pilled
I would say no to porn.
>the genre of pornography caters to specific sexes and sexualities e.g porn designed for straight men, gay men vs straight women, lesbians, etc.
>userbase can be profiled based on relative popularity of porn threads
>bad actors can identify whether the userbase is primarily male or female
>if the userbase is primarily male, bad actors can bump, promote or spam relationship troubles or break up stories from reddit to demoralize men about women
>the userbase goes down the same road as 4chan /r9k/
>after 10 years of whining about never being invited to parties in high school, not getting laid before 20, and roasties, the userbase perceives women to be the fault of the downfall of society (as opposed to entropy in the financial system or reckless fiscalism) therefore NPNW
>>0x00000a
I think there are plenty of places on the Internet with erotic content that doesn't have the same culture as 4chan.
The thing that ultimately makes 4chan a place that is ripe for abuse is
1) the quantity of people, and
2) the administrators of the site don't care.
that being said, it's convenient that most people here don't seem to want it, because there doesn't seem to be anyone who wants to facilitate it either.
Or who knows. Maybe it already exists and we just don't know about it. The rules say there are hidden boards. shrug.

> Or who knows. Maybe it already exists and we just don't know about it. The rules say there are hidden boards. shrug.
Just to clarify, it doesn't exist. There is one hidden board where you're technically allowed to post NSFW but it's a shitpost board not a porn board.
It's mostly there so that I won't accidentally overlook something that got posted, but you can use it too if you want.
You can access it from here https://board.divsel.com/posts/
Im too lazy to find out myself so you better tell me
Click, it will copy the link to your clipboard. When you share it, it should know which post from the thread to embed. So far it seems to work on Discord but probably will work differently on different apps. In either case, when the user opens the link to the thread, it will scroll to the correct post.
